Forriner “Condor” (Forriner Music)

English version:

When we heard about Lee Forster and Oli Warriner (Forriner) joining forces, we were intrigued. Individually, these two have been signed to labels well known such as ESP Institute and Mule Musiq, among others, and have shown to know how to craft 4/4 tracks without sounding obvious.
Having a couple of releases on Futureboogie and MeMeMe on their back, the duo now launch their own imprint (also called Forriner), and do so with a release of their own. And to top it off, they get Perseus Traxx to do a remix, alongside a more mysterious name (Frank Butters, presumably the same person behind the well received techno EP “Condition for Solitude” in 2016, and a remix on Not An Animal last year).

Forriner give us two of their own tracks here (“Condor” and “Pauly’s Corkscrew”). The first one starts from a naked beat and builds quite quickly into an epic atmosphere; the sort of tune you would want under your belt to switch gears in a deep-house set. Perseus Traxx provides a remix in keeping with the original concept, which still adds considerable warmth through a more prominent layer of pads and a lo-fi kickdrum.
On the B-side, “Pauly’s Corkscrew” is a suspended deep-house number, strongly hinting at the style of Ron Trent’s most recent productions but with a bit more speed in its step. Unlike Perseus Traxx’s interpretation of “Condor”, Frank Butters turns “Pauly’s Corkscrew” into something entirely different, with clear acid-techno influences; almost as if this was an excuse for him to publish a track of his own. And we can definitely say his braveness wins us over, as this is the cut you will want to feed to the most demanding, discerning dancers, and gives this EP an edge over many other good deep house records.
